As I may have mentioned previously, I’m finally done my program at the Centre for Arts and Technology in Halifax and I have now been home for a week. I thought that I would be able to have a little bit of a break after being a full time student for a year, but that would be too easy. I’ve been working hard at moving back into my parents house (I officially have too much stuff for their house), getting my business up and running (there is a lot of paperwork), teaching beginner violin lessons part time, as well as catching up with friends, my fiance, my family, and life in general.
That being said, I really wouldn’t change a thing. I am loving being home. I’ve said it before, and I will probably say it many more times, but I am a complete home body and I love spending time with friends and family in my home. Don’t get me wrong, Halifax is a fantastic city – there is always something going on that one can attend or get involved with and the sights/sounds/smells are almost always interesting and exciting. It is a wonderful city to go away to and learn in, not just academically, but to really learn about yourself and how the world works. I highly recommend it to anybody looking to take a break from home.
I don’t regret a minute I spent away from home. Now, however, that I am finished I am so so SO glad to be home! Woodstock, tiny and boring though it may be, has reached a new level of appreciation in my heart. The people that I love are here. My memories are here. My future is here. I am inspired by the landscape and the people I meet each day and I’m excited for how this place will influence my creativity. Again, it is boring and small and I wanted nothing more than to leave it far behind when I was 14, but now I can truly see and appreciate the beauty that is hidden here and I hope that I will be able to convey it through my photos.
