While at CAT I was able to meet a lot of fantastic people and get inspired by their work. My lighting instructor Liam gave me a great recommendation as Tanya was looking for a second shooter/assistant for the summer. A few Facebook messages and a meeting later and Tanya asked me to tag along and capture Gillian and Drew’s Halifax wedding with her.
I have never been so excited and nervous in my entire life, but thankfully, this wedding was the perfect one to ease me into the wedding routine. Gillian and Drew were fantastic. They were warm and welcoming to me, some kid they’d never seen before in a pair of Toms, and they let me be there in their most intimate moments: Gillian dressing at her parents home, Drew sharing many hugs with his mother, their sweet ceremony that included everyone in song, and their portraits together, for the first time, as husband and wife. Married at the Atlantica, their wedding was full of great food and music, with just the right sprinkle in of family and love, not to mention a tonne of tweets!
This is the wedding that got me hooked, that landed me a summer assisting job, that started me on the crazy road of wedding photography. Thank you so so much Gillian and Drew, your day was beautiful and I will always remember it.
