Courtney, Gaia, & Cuervo – Woodstock Portrait Photography

I got to spend some time with Courtney and her pups a week or so ago. I had a momentary lapse of memory as I didn’t seem to realize how fast and how excited puppies can be, but thankfully, we managed to tire them out…eventually =P. Gaia, the older of the two, was obedient and sweet, cocking her head to the side each time Courtney asked her if she’d like to get in the car. Cuervo was a little ball of energy that kept me on my toes. Both made me realize how bad I want a puppy (which, once again, I begged Craig for after my session ended), but that’s besides the point, so, here are some photos to look at instead. =)

Jordan..Squared? Cubed? Twice? – Brightest Dawn Photography

I love these two crazy kids. And I love having them in front of my camera. Jordan and Jordan (yeah, try having a conversation with them both there in a restaurant) compliment each other perfectly. Both love Tim Hortons, game nights, Hockey, country music and spending time cuddling in each other arms.

I was pumped I finally got them in front of my camera after nearly a year of them dating.  We braved the giant bugs that threatened to carry us away and had some fun in the process.

Shannon Backlit Portraits – Woodstock Portrait Photography

There are times when while shooting, something magical happens.

The light hits the earth at the most magnificent angles with the softest warmth and creates a perfect yellow halo around whomever you’re shooting. Your client relaxes and becomes at home in front of you, they smile and their eyes twinkle and it’s beautiful. Your setting melts away and all that is left is beauty and light.

Craig Appreciation – Woodstock Portrait Photography

I talk about him a lot, but it dawned on me the other day that I can probably bet most of you have no clue who this infamous Craig character is.

This is my husband, Craig. He’s my best friend and a constant source of creative energy and support for everything that I decide I’m going to do, or more often, try to do. Craig works as a Marketing Assistant for a local company and is a Graphic Designer by trade, so naturally he chimes in whenever there is a decision to be made about the design of something. Sometimes this is annoying, but all of the time it is helpful. It’s really a win win situation with both of us being in creative fields, and thankfully, he knows how to run a camera so he sometimes plays assistant.

Melissa – Woodstock Portrait Photography

I had the pleasure of getting together with Melissa a couple weeks ago to grab a few headshots and catch up on life.

Melissa is currently finishing up her interior decorating course at Algonquin College in Ottawa. Upon completion, Melissa will be aiming to serve both Ottawa and the River Valley with her designing skills. We had a lot of fun with this shoot. I don’t think there was a moment when we weren’t laughing about something, getting attacked by her cat, Cooper, or just talking about the ins and outs of starting up a small business. It was also kind of nice to shoot some headshots as it’s not something I get to do that often. I love lifestyle portraiture, and headshots are no different, as I’m sure you can see below. What better way to promote yourself then by showing yourself doing what you love!

Broken Tinman – Halifax Portrait Photography

As I said in a previous post, one great thing about the Centre for Arts and Technology is the ease with which we’re all able to network and find like-minded individuals to help with projects. Adonica and I share a class and as she helped out by donating her family for my final project, I was super excited when she asked if I could do some band portraits for her!

Emily – Fredericton Portrait Photography

A little over a week or so ago I had the pleasure of meeting up with Emily on the St. Thomas University campus in Fredericton for a little photo shoot. After a week of almost non stop rain I was so excited to be outside shooting, even if it was a little overcast.

Emily and I attended High School together and she went on to take an arts degree at St. Thomas and is studying with the intention of becoming a librarian. It’s always kind of nice to see where the people you went to school with went and what they’ve been up to and Emily was no exception. She was beautiful and vibrant and down for any crazy idea that I might have.

Fashionably Late – Halifax Portrait Photography

The semester wound down way faster then I could ever expect and now I’m on to my last! Eeek!

Part of our course load this year included a lighting class, taught by the fantastic Liam Hennessey of Applehead Studios. A portion of our classes were made up of concept execution – basically being able to come up with an idea and complete it. Naturally, this was one of the components required for our final assignment.
