This is it. The final Halifax Jazz Festival Post. I would just like to say again that I had an absolute fantastic time and I’m so thankful for being given the opportunity to experience it through my camera lens. It was an event I will not soon forget and will probably miss sorely this time next year.
Friday night was a fantastic way to end off my time documenting the Jazz Festival. The first act was the fantastic Cyndi Cain. Her show was an experience that featured a costume change, a soulful church rendition for her father, and a special performance for two friends who danced to an original song on their wedding day. I really enjoyed Cyndi and would go see her again in a heartbeat!
The last act, who was a step above the rest, was the legendary Charles Bradley and his Extraordinaires. I must admit I had no idea what I signed up for, but everyone else did that night as the venue was packed and my short (5’3) self and to practically hold my camera above my head for most of my shots! Bradley has released numerous albums with the Daptone Records label and is known for his channeling of Otis Redding. This man had some serious pipes! I loved this performance and Mr. Bradley was a riot to photograph – his faces are never void of intense expressions.
And so ends my time at Jazz Festival. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did!
