Shannon Backlit Portraits – Woodstock Portrait Photography

There are times when while shooting, something magical happens.

The light hits the earth at the most magnificent angles with the softest warmth and creates a perfect yellow halo around whomever you’re shooting. Your client relaxes and becomes at home in front of you, they smile and their eyes twinkle and it’s beautiful. Your setting melts away and all that is left is beauty and light.

I was out practicing with my sister and this magic happened. I love shooting backlit portraits (which is a fancy term for ‘hey, the light source is behind you and making you look all “a glow”‘) and am always looking for more practice as sometimes the conditions can yield odd results. I giggled the whole time I was shooting because I was loving everything I had popping up on the back of my camera, not just because of the light, but because I captured Shannon’s essence, her spunk. These are the moments that reinforce my love for taking images.

I can’t even begin to explain the goosebumps. Look for yourself…
