Fashionably Late – Halifax Portrait Photography

The semester wound down way faster then I could ever expect and now I’m on to my last! Eeek!

Part of our course load this year included a lighting class, taught by the fantastic Liam Hennessey of Applehead Studios. A portion of our classes were made up of concept execution – basically being able to come up with an idea and complete it. Naturally, this was one of the components required for our final assignment.

I’m not one who normally does well with this whole concept execution thing. I mean, I have a tonne of ideas, but generally I end up talking myself out of doing them for numerous reasons: they’re dumb, I don’t own a prop house, I don’t know anyone who fits the concept, I’m scared, etc. So when I heard I had to do it for this final project I was sweating, and not because it was warm.

I decided I wanted to head into the fashion realm a little bit. I love fashion. I love looking at it and coveting every bit of it. I love fashion photography. I don’t love the idea of me being a fashion photographer. It requires a lot of fresh and exciting ideas, and as we’ve already discussed, I lack in that department sometimes. But for this assignment I wanted to push myself and figured this would be one way to go about doing that.

My concept was, as you can see in the title, fashionably late, and ironically, I almost didn’t finish it on time! Jordan is a close friend of mine and is absolutely gorgeous and was patient with my and my ideas and I’m really pleased with the final result. I think I might just try something like this again!
