A busy week – Brightest Dawn Photography

These past couple weeks have just flown by, it’s kind of ridiculous. I’ve been working on a lot of school related projects, I’m currently sick, which blows, and I had a pretty awesome visit with Craig, my fiance. So I’ll just run through a couple things that I’ve been excited about in the past little while!

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing my first fashion show for Fashion SOS, an event that was put on with the intent of donating the proceeds towards the SOS Children’s Villages organization. There were a few hiccups along the way, but for the most part it was a fun way to test my low light skills. I also figured out that I probably couldn’t do photos for runways often because it’s such a weird thing to try to capture, especially when your models are super eager and can’t stay in one spot! Living and learning I guess you might say. I’ll be posting a separate blog post on this event!

The day after the fashion show I went over to the Shadow House and took two workshops, one with the amazing fine art photographer Steve Richard and the second with phenomenal fashion photographer Brent McCombs. Both are fantastic and have so much knowledge and experience that they are more than willing to share. I also got the chance to pick up Steve’s latest publication Cloud Busting, and if anyone is interested in fine art photography, or even if you’re not, I HIGHLY recommend taking a look at those images.

Like I said, I also had a nice visit with my fiance Craig. I know, I know, most of you are probably thinking, “well that’s great, talk more about photos!” but I need to stress how important he is to both my creative work flow and my sanity. It had been a month since we last had a visit so it was much needed! I feel all charged up and encouraged now. 🙂

I know that is a lot of information, and I’m sure you’re looking for so photos so I will deliver. The photos in this post are kinda all over the place, so bear with me.

I’ve decided, last night when my sickness was keeping me wide awake actually, that I’m going to start trying to take a photo each day for the following year. Sometimes it’s so easy to just get creatively bored due to all the other things that fill up my day, so I wanted to commit to at least trying to create a new photo every day. These photos will be posted on my personal facebook for now, and in the future, say at the end of every month, I think I’ll write a blog post about them, just to remind everyone.
